So here I am, chillin in Waylad, waiting to head over to Jareds wedding. Im sitting in Tommys living room, watching college football, getting ready to jump in the shower.…
So Chrome is out. Everyone has been talking about it for 24 hours. Its fast. It loads like IE (in that theres like a vertical strip of load-fade-sliding-coolness). its from…
Hey there! Sorry Ive been out of touch for so long. I cant say Ive been doing amazing things or anything – Ive just been lame. So the holiday weekend…
What do you suggest that I do? Im currently putting up a website with video, links and explanations of what Ive done and whom Ive done it with (and to),…
After Thursdays over-drunken ABDC wrap party and Fridays hangover day where I didnt spend any real time at the computer, the weekend came in and assaulted me with its sheer…
As promised, here are pix of M&Hs Post-Nuptial party. It was a great party – everyone seemed to have an excellent time. I was glad to get to spend even…
So, in the 36 hours that Ive been back, Ive been trying to tackle computer problems that have been vexing me for awhile. Some Ive solved, some remain unsolved, and…
I think my luck may be expiring. At least as it pertains to travel. Im stuck in Syracuse until tomorrow morning, at which time I have a flight booked that…
It costs ~$200 to go from LA to Portland on Amtrak. The trip is slated to take 30 hours (unless you take a bus and a train and a bus…

The new Facebook layout is wonky for me. Is it weird for anyone else? Im using Firefox on XP and cant easily test on another OS right now (and I…
So Ive been playing with Griffith for a few days, and I have to say, its pretty cool. Basically, you type the movie name and hit enter and it fills in the rest of the details from “the web.” Its not like I have so many that I dont know what movies I have, but its a nice way to have the information at my fingertips. And as my collection grows, I can imagine using the Lending Library features to keep track of who has what and how long its been gone. Ive lost a few DVDs that way, and god forbid I go Blu-Ray and start losing $50 copies of Hard to Kill. What would I do?
What else? My laptop is still broken. Ill get on the phone later today with the Gateway repair center to see if its going to be worth fixing. If not, Im going to start taking donations, so consider sending me pennies or something.
Steve is coming up today because his sister is allegedly in town, so well get some dinner and maybe a drink or ten. And Emmanuel comes on Monday, which is exciting because were going to find fun things to do while hes in town.
Larger Griffith pic after the break. Do any of yall use anything like this for archival purposes? Also, should I archive my digital movies, too? Im thinking of maybe making a new database for those. Talk to me, people.
So yeah… Hey there. Its been awhile, right? Its dumb when I dont update for a long time because then Im all daunted about all that I have to update about. Fogeddaboudit.
Me, Casey & Jen went Geohashing two Saturdays ago, and this is the pic from that. I went to last Saturdays spot on my own after a beach day, but it was on private property, so I looked at it from a ways off. Ah well. It would have been an easy hike, but such is life.
The weekend was good – Ems bday thing was fun, Saturdays beach was cool, and the Comedy Central Roast afterparty had free liquor. Thats always good. BootieLA on Saturday night was great – typical of the time I have there, although its better now that people come with me (or meet me there) than it used to be when Id rock it solo-style.
I got tickets to Mike & Heathers wedding finally, although they havent charged to my card yet and Im stressing about that a little. I hate having outstanding charges that havent posted – its stressful, somehow, even though I know about them.
What else? Oh yeah, my laptop broke yesterday. No warning, just blew a fuse or something. Not that they have fuses. Ive gotta figure that out, because damn. Im actually going to be calling their repair center in Colorado or something because this dog wont hunt. Or, if it will hunt, its going to cost me a lot of money. Of course, if fixing the laptop is expensive, its time to get my first new laptop in like 5 years. And thatll be more expensive. Not till after the wedding(s), though – no more debt till then.
I stuck a photo of Saturdays Geohash spot after the break, complete with X marking the spot.
Not yet, but soon. Also, its BootieLA this weekend and then the MTV Roast afterparty. Fun times.
As Ive said to just about everyone whos asked, we survived the earthquake just fine, and it was the best kind of earthquake. Plenty big to feel it, to make…
So, if this had just been a normal 3-day weekend, it would have been pretty good. As it stands, we should have been in Syracuse, so thats a bit different.…
So todays Papas Birthday. Its also the day theyre burying him. Right now, I was supposed to be in a rental car heading out to the site that they picked…
Papas Memorial Weekend officially kicks off tonight at 8:30ish when we leave here for Syracuse (via Boston). Exciting, I know. Im looking forward to seeing the family again, although, man,…
So this is a little late, sorry. We survived Vegas. Maybe we even thrived. The highlight of the trip was definitely the Folies Berg
Okay, heres a couple things that have been sitting on the burner that Ive been meaning to mention. Oh, and can “Qu-pdates” become a word meaning quick updates? I feel like 20% of my posts are like this. Ah well. Onwards:
Item: Russ & Jarreds latest project, Models & Me, has wrapped principal photography as of Monday the 14th in New York City. Russ filled me in on the excitement and tribulations of keeping an ever-expanding shoot on the rails, and it sounded like quite the effort. The upshot of all that effort is likely to be beautifully-shot footage of solid performances (“You go, Gurf!” Sorry.) thatll be easy to edit. Editing, coincidentally, starts this week. I hope I get some inside scoop on early footage. I also hope they shot more transitions than we did on Choice Investigations. Damn me and my transitions.
Item: CI is close to its second rough edit. Color correcting is a pain in the ass, and definitely a monkey-and-the-cheese problem for me. I finally just stopped. I even reverted a couple changes. Now i have to go back and figure out the best way to do a menuset and a quick burn. Nothings ever quick.
Item: Syracuse next Sunday. Im looking forward to seeing everyone, even if the occasion isnt one Id choose.
Item: Im working on making your poll votes a reality. Its a slow process, but I think I can manage some of it. Anyone who wants to become a (semi?) regular contributor here, let me know. Thats my favorite option, too.
Thats it for now, although I am putting in an awesome picture of me and Steve at Bootie last month after the jump, just so you can see how foolish I am. And how unamused Steve looks. You know how he never smiles, right? Well, this is a perfect example of it. Kudos to Joe from DrunkRockers for getting that shot.
Its that time of year again to eat some brie and drink some wine in honor of those crazy Frenchmen ushering in an era of guillotines and paranoia that lasted…
So July 4th Weekend came and went, and while I only took pics on the actual 4th, the whole weekend did happen. Sorry there arent any pictures of Steves visit,…
