Its day two of the job. I worked 11 hours yesterday, then went home and shot audition tape with Brad for three more. Its for a really cool gig, so were keeping our fingers crossed. Needless to say, I’m tired again today.
The job has started well. Lots of answering phones, lots of telling people that the people they’re calling for aren’t available for one reason or another. Other than that, its just the usual daily administrivia of keeping an office running and making sure people have what they need. I’m not used the idea that things aren’t totally urgent all the time, but I suspect that eventually I’ll find it nice. Taking days, rather than hours to order from Staples, for example, is a novelty that’s going to take some getting used to.
In other news:
- I put up two strands of Christmas lights last night (while we were rehearsing the scenes for Brads shoot – boy, can I multitask!). Its a meager attempt at holiday cheer, but its better than nothing. If my experience in LA is anything like that in NYC, I’ll be much better in my second year in the place than in my first. That just seems to be the way of things with me.
- I’ve missed Monday night football two nights in a row. That’s not a good thing.
- I didn’t post a birthday wish to Becca (whose birthday was the 26th), because I was offline much of the time in Houston. While we did talk briefly on the phone, I should have been able to post a birthday wish here, too. Sorry, Becca.
That’s all the news that’s fit to print right now. Ive taken hours writing this update because I’m answering phones and running around. Things do seem to be smoothing out already, though, and I think I can live here for awhile. Thanks for reading.
