Whoa it's hot!

Dunno where to file this one, but the heatwave came in with a vengeance yesterday.  By the time I realized it, it was late in the afternoon, so we didn't turn on the air.  But if we had, we'd have realized that the air broke sometime in the last month that it's been off.  So... no AC today.  At least it's supposed to cool down tomorrow?  We'll see how that goes - they were saying the weekend wasn't going to get out of the 70s this morning, so we can hope.

Anyway, besides the heat, the only things of note are Casey's mom's visit that's been nice, and the fact that I'm now back to work on MWS stuff.  Also, I need to get a Yellow Fever shot - i wonder how I do that.  I should also get some pictures taken for visas and such tomorrow.  And pick up the plexi tray for the 4-shell road case.  and get a haircut. errands abound.

Miss me?

WomenHello again!  I'm making not updating a habit, it turns out.  Maybe the cold summer makes me bad at updating.  Here's some stuff.

  • New Pictures from the Roast Afterparty
  • Saw Drew, April, Emily & Mom in San Diego as Drew & April looked for a new apartment.
  • Helped Steve pack his apartment and prep to leave SD. Sad.
  • Rode my bike all over yesterday
  • Been working on the BRANDED website/concept quite a bit
  • Bootie was awesome - I'm thinkin' of taking a model there next time to shoot some awesome-color shots.
  • I'm still learning about my camera - the curve is steep.

What else?  Nothing that I can think of.  I'll probably come back later.

UPDATE: I'm also making a series of little changes to the site.  More pictures, and links to other stuff I'm working on, in case anyone's interested.  I'm even putting things in the footer, for god's sake.  This is getting intense.

Teleprompting to Keyboard Cowboy

Yesterday, I did a short prompting gig with Natalie Cole - this music prompting thing is kinda cool.  I got to hear Natalie perform "Unforgettable" live (although she wasn't singing full-out, because it was to tracks), which was fun.  Then I came home and wrote code for the better part of six hours.  I've been watching Star Treks to keep me from going stir crazy, but even they aren't doing it 100%.

I've been working on three websites at the same time these days, which can get hectic, but has the benefit of providing me with an ever-changing cornucopia of code and nerd choices to make.  Otherwise, it's been a pretty uneventful few days.  I'm already nervous about Thanksgiving - how am I going to have everything ready in a mere week?  You can bet I'll be spending afternoons making food pretty much from now till next Thursday.  At least Applesauce.

Right now, the number stands at 24 and I don't think I can handle any more.  That's already pretty crazy, but it'll have to do.  I think on my list for tomorrow is going to Home Depot and buying some of the crap I need, as well as one thing I sorely want.  I'll update as I know more.

Catching Up

Stressful day on the tech front as I update the ShoeHardware.com website and hope it all goes according to plan.

I finished my green screen, too, which is pretty rad.  I'll post pictures below the jump.

Now I'm working on ilpunali (again, I know) and hoping that we're going to be ready to go in mere days, rather than in, oh, never?  This thing, while awesome in theory, has become a nightmare in practice.  I'm a little past frustrated with this thing, and I'm ready to see some sales.  I'm gunshy, of course, because I sent out 1000 emails last time and ended up looking like a fool in front of all those people.  This time, we're going to soft-launch and take things as they go.  At least, I am.

I also bought a Pelican Case yesterday to fit our Presidentials setup, which is good, because we booked a new gig for Tuesday.  Fun times.  Pictures of that, too, below the jump.

I've missed you!

Portland was awesome
and New York was long
if you beg to differ
I'll tell you you're wrong.

There. A poem for you.  That's what you come to clapboard for, right?  The poetry?  And the naked chicks.  Sorry about that, by the way - I know you're still waiting, but I'll get around to it eventually.  Probably on a subdomain, but still.

Driving to and from Portland was pretty amazing - the changes in the enviornment were breathtaking.  Even though it took a long time to see those changes occur, my brain works slow, so it's okay.  I'd love to do the drive someday with a time-lapse camera pointed out a side window shooting a picture every minute or so, too.

Anyway, Scott & Sharon's place is awesome - you should probably go visit them to see for yourself.  I'm already looking forward to the chance to go back.  I bought a couple of bottles of Oregon Pinot Noir, which were good, but a little more expensive than their CA counterparts.  Probably to do with the amount of competition and the level of recognition that California wines enjoy.  Regardless of their quality, if you price a wine high, it's going to get a little mindshare as a "good" wine.  At least, that's how I'd do it.

I'll have pics up a little later, now that I'm back in the swing of things.
