So a year ago today (in a few hours) I was loading out my gear from the MJ show at Staples.  That's the show that was probably going to take me to the O2 Arena.  One year and one day later, I'll be loading out at the O2 for real, having finished Bon Jovi's run here in London.

It's interesting where your life goes - how it gets shaped.  Who would be on the Bon Jovi show?  Would we be prompting it?  Doubtful, but you never know.

Anyway, I'm surprisingly daunted by the prospect of hunting down potential places to taste wine.  Something about going alone makes it all seem lame.  Ah well.  I'm also considering going back to Mt. Ste Michelle... we'll see.

So the pattern emerges.  I get home and stop updating.  It's not that nothing is happening (because when does anything ever happen?), it's that I get lethargic and don't want to write.  And I even probably have things to write.  Maybe.

I started work on a new home server using Amahi, but had to stop because we had a week's worth of guests.  My initial reaction was positive, but as time went on, it started to become clear that Amahi was like a lot of software out there, trying to do things that aren't within its purview.  I understand why they want to run their own DNS server, but I already have one up and configured.  The fact that their services only really work right if you use their DNS server is a deal breaker for me, I think.  Couple that with the fact that the Greyhole service is barely acceptable and doesn't seem to properly balance storage across disks and you can start to see a product that's close, but no cigar.  Maybe in a month when I'm back again I can try whatever the newest version is and see if any of this has been ironed out.  The DNS thing is in their DNA, so I don't see that changing.

What else?  I re-formatted my eee in anticipation of its next trip abroad - it's now running UNR v10.04 and running it very well, it seems. I'm not so much a fan of the giant icons and cartoony look of the style of netbook remixes, but i do like that everything just works and I also like having some space still on my 4GB of internal memory.

I've been working in slo-mo since I've been home, having a terrible time motivating myself to get anything done.  It's like when I have more things to do than i have hours in the day, I just work steadily.  When I could theoretically get everything done, I sit around and stare at nothingness.  Ghetto.

Speaking of sitting around, I can't do too much more of that - gotta get a move on.  Banking and trip prep doesn't do itself, after all.  Errands! Parking tickets! Packing! Fun!
