What else do you need to know beside the title of this entry? All right... I'll elaborate a bit more...but seriously, you shouldn't need much convincing to join myself, Matt, Tim, and Loewen at our newest Tuesday Night Tradition---to be referred to lovingly as PSK.
The lovely folks @ Sardo's in Burbank have been holding PSK for seven years now. Every Tuesday, porn star Nikki Hunter hosts the evening's festivities---in which porn stars from near and far (by which I mean between Universal City and Van Nuys) come to sing, drink, and give away free porn. As Dory put it when I mentioned the event to her, you can't get that anywhere but LA.
Miss Hunter does a spectacular job hosting---managing to make anyone who ventures to the stage feel special (from shy girls to porn fanboys) and she miraculously seems to recognize EVERY porn star that walks in the door (even though the faces change every week). I have a feeling she knows ahead of time who's coming, but I'd rather believe she has an amazing porn encyclopedia in her head.
Each week Hunter (or volunteers of her choosing) hand out free porn, often starring ladies in attendance that evening. I have a triple signed copy of Mother Load 4, that the lovely Julie Ann autographed that evening (she's the cover girl and star). All it takes to win a copy is some enthusiasm (aka lots of "woo woo-ing") and a drink held in the air (cleavage doesn't hurt...).
Other than the presence of porn stars, it's just a normal, debaucherous night of karaoke--filled with the good, the bad, and the ugly vocal stylings of porn stars and regular folk alike. It's always a pleasant surprise when one of the porn ladies takes the stage and belts it out (like Vanessa Naughty did one evening...who I later recognized as a cast member from the True Blood Parody porn!!! Tim and I have vowed to bring his copy next time, in hopes that she returns).
The entertainment and theme get an A+ and it's a fun, unique weekly tradition. But there are a few cons---don't order a vodka tonic (I've tried twice and it never tastes right) and sometimes the service can be a bit slow. Usually there's enough distraction to make this irrelevant though. Also, if you want to sing, you MUST put your name in as soon as you arrive, otherwise they'll never get to you. We usually arrive between 9 and 10--JUST before the rush, because there's also limited seating.
Please make it a point to stop by---you can be pretty sure I'll be there and really what's a better outlet to release your inhibitions than karaoke and porn?
