Stupidly Busy
Over the last few days, I've been too busy to even check my email. I look at the sender, and even if it's not spam, If I don't have to deal with it right away, I just ignore it. So if that's been you, I apologize. The fact is, just like in the title of my email, I've been stupidly busy. Setting up six new computers takes a better system than I have in place, and it takes more time than I had to do it, too. If there's ever a next time, I'll know that and build it in. The new computers helped, but they didn't solve the problem - that's a network issue that I'm going to deal with sooner rather than later.
Anyway, not important to anyone but me, but still, something I'm thinking about. Now I'm on Bon Jovi for two and a half days, which should be fun. By fun, I of course mean not at all fun, but instead infuriating, since my gear hasn't arrived and I'm flying blind, pretty much, given that we're in Hershey, PA, which is in the middle of nowhere. Geh.
Anyway, a quick update for you - just wanted to keep being better about writing, especially since I got such a nice compliment on my website the other day.

no photo today (yet)
So here's one of those bullet list updates that will someday win me blogger-with-vision awards because it does away with all of those unnecessary things like transitions, complete sentences and proper punctuation. I'm in Montreal where there's still like 2 feet of snow that just won't melt.
- first of all, it's supposed to go above freezing today. I haven't gone outside yet, but you can bet your ass i will as soon as I've written this update and showered. I need to get a bit of Canadian money and some breakfast.
- Went to the gym this morning after passing out on my bed at 1015pm. No alcohol, just a short night the night before.
- played a little bit of WoW yesterday - the server seems to be empty, or else everyone is doing something else. I remember playing before and having no problem finding people doing similar shit that I was doing so we could pair up. It's less fun leveling alone, but it does make it easy to not go out for a beer. I've already made back the $40 I spent on the playtime in not-bought beers.
- There's an office building across from my room, and the floor that's on my level is empty. Makes me want to get in there and shoot some photos, but A#1) I couldn't get in there and B#2) I don't know anyone in town here to shoot. Shame to waste a cool space like that. Of course, it's not a waste when you don't actually have it to begin with.
- I offended everyone on my bus yesterday when I told them that I didn't like the Beatles. Didn't know it was a prereq to working on a rock tour to love them, but now I do. (insert bitterness here.)
- Montreal looks pretty - i wish it wasn't covered in slushy blech where I have to walk.
- It's impossible to get hotel rooms cool enough so you can sleep comfortably. In the summer, I can sort of understand them setting a lower limit on the A/C but in the winter? just turn off the heat and it'll cool down, right? No, the thermostat ignores you.
- Today is wander around Montreal a bit and get some work done. My SH.com redesign is coming along swimmingly, but it's tough to work on it from the hotel. Maybe I'll also do some writing. Wouldn't that be amazing? I've actually done a bit, but not enough, this leg already.
Okay, that's enough for now. Happy Thursday. Do something fun for me today and send me a picture.

shirkin' workin'
Since I've been home, I've been in one of those situations where I have so much to do that I literally have no idea where to start, so of course, I haven't been doing anything. Okay, that's not true. I've done lots of the easy stuff, the cleaning, the laundry and the organizing that's the base for building up to doing actual work, but then it's been too easy to stop there and let my mind wander. Let's say that I haven't added much blue to my Excel sheet in the last few days.
To that end, I've discovered that my IP address (and maybe my account) is banned on Craigslist, so no more trying to cast Branded models (I've updated the website a little since I've been back) or sell computer crap there. Dumb. I've sent them a message, but I'm sure no one will ever see it, so I'm effectively banned from CL until my IP changes (and even then who knows). Okay, whatever. I do have a shoot scheduled for tomorrow, which is exciting, since it's the first step towards working on my creative endeavors I'll be taking since I've gotten home.
The real work I'm getting into now is getting the PCW storage ready for the influx of returned gear that'll be happening in early September. I need to be buying Metro shelving, containers for connectors, cable organizers, etc., etc., etc., and getting that stuff installed and configured before more crap gets put in place. Add to that the other tech stuff and potentially cases I need to be buying and there's suddenly quite a bit of new stuff that'll be infusing PCW in the near future.
That's it for now - pictures and such will follow later. I'm planning on taking some to update the PCW website with.

being busy is great
So I've spent the last week in NYC and DC, a fact that's kept me super busy. That's awesome, because it means I've gotten to see a bunch of people I choose to see (and who choose to see) for a change. Fun times. These east coast tours are bad for my clapboard updates, so those of you I'm not updating in real life (IRL) get more sporadic updates. Sorry about that.
This update, in fact, is just a crappy one, 'cause we're doing sound check early today, which means that I don't have time to upload pictures right now. I'll make it up to you, though, swear. Next update will have pictures, i swear. If it were as easy to resize video as images, I'd even shoot you a little video. Someday. Clapboard is going to get more and more multimedia-y, too, at least, that's the goal for 2011. That, and giving you guys more and more reasons to come back.
Happy Sunday, and go Oscar - have a good show tonight, which I will completely ignore.

Who are these people?
I'm deleting like 5 or 10 new spam accounts on here per day these days. It's strange. I don't know what's attracting them to this site, and I have yet to see any comment spam (maybe there's another weakness that I haven't had time to discover yet?), but I'm deleting them all the same. Some of these accounts even get verified, which tells me that there's a person at the other end of the email, or else a very sophisticated script. If it was a script, though, I'd expect all the accounts to be confirmed, but we're hovering around 30%, I'd say.
I'll work on upgrading my security in the next couple of days, but if someone is paying humans to register, it's going to be a losing battle. I just wonder what they're trying to do. How do real sites deal with this problem?
